Today will be day third of heading to the studio, not just any studio, DREAM HOUSE STUDIOS(dreamhousevi.com) . These peeps are amazing. I know a lot of people with a lot of talent and a handful of them, much like my buddy PAUL LAINE https://www.facebook.com/paullaineofficial, are exquisite. These two, AARON JAMES & JESSE KRISTENSEN, are also in this category. I could not have asked for two kinder, funny, intelligent, amazing men to work with on this audio book. I had no idea how this was going to look, feel or play out. With the third day under our belts I can tell, you a thousand times better than I dreamed it could have.
I am not doing the reading of the book, and my excuse for not doing it was that I had heard, people tend to tune out women and that their voices get annoying to many after awhile. LOL and I thought it was just me talking to my husband.. 😉 So we talked about it. I then said that I would most likely go off course and have side tangents. Cry, spaz and definitely not be able to keep my voice the nice even same tone they like when doing an audio book. Again we talked about it. In the end, if I am being completely honest with you all, I do not think I would be able to. I do not think that I would be able to make it through the book in the time frame allotted. I know I would not be able to stay on track and I am not sure I want to be more exposed than I already am. I know it would make for a good listen and have an impact for many hearing the rawness in my voice, the ache in my heart and the tears that I’m sure would fall. For myself, it is a bit too much for my heart, and allowing someone else to read it is the best choice.
Jesse Kristensen is the person reading the book that you will be listening too. He has a great voice, Arron was on the money with recommending him to be the reader. There have been a few times that while he is reading I can feel the tears coming and the emotions surfacing. Today I spent a fair amount of my time rocking slightly in my chair. You know the emotions are getting to you when you are trying to sooth yourself while staying focused on the reading. He will not disappoint, if his reading doesn’t tug at your heart hard enough to bring tears to your eyes, then I say…. you must be a robot.
Arron James is the mastermind of the production, he is the engineer making all the magic happen. Not only does he record all that is going on, he manages to pay attention to things over pronounced, going to fast, or to loud, and if a word is redundant. I sit in complete awh. He hears all, literally. He picks up a rumble from a car outside or Jesses tummy, a slight slur of a word. All well cutting and re placing and re starting, He doesn’t miss a beat. It amazes me. The talent sitting in that engineering chair is incredible.
You may be wondering what my job is, well let me tell you. I am to go through the book while Jessie is reading it, to make sure he stays on track, not toss in words and to assist in the mood of it. My job seems to be easy compared to both of theirs and yet each day I have come home completely exhausted.
Exhausted yes, also so very happy. Each day that I have come home, I take a moment to reflect on the day, what we did and how it sounded. Each time I do this I can not help but smile and think how the frick did I get so lucky to end up with these two doing this. I know it probably reads like I am just blowing smoke up your ass, I can tell you I am not. The book is sounding amazing. It is raw and real. Between the two of them I have not doubt you are going to love listening to it.
There are a couple things that I find completely wonderful about my current situation of recording with these two. Frist and foremost, I had never meet these two men before we decided to record the book together. I did a reach out and two people recommended the studio in a very short time frame. I took it as a meant to be. Did a quick chat with Aaron on the phone and loved the ease of communication. We set up to meet to discuses the book and with that I met him and Jesse. I chatted a shit ton when I first met them, shared some details of the book, talked about tid bits of our lives, it was pretty easy and had a good flow. We set up time right after that for recording dates. Our first day of recording was great, took a bit to set up and get into a groove however it was easy. So here I sat with two men I had only met one time before, to talk about the book. Leaving myself open and exposed, sharing some of my deepest, most hurtful wounds, and these two lovingly accept me. They don’t judge, they don’t shame… its so beautiful I can not help but smile with how wonderful they are.
Secondly, while sharing so much of my time with these two with very little to hide because they are reading right from my heart, it opens up for some pretty deep conversations. Possible with the vulnerability I am sitting it, it allows them to share some of there heart as well. We get to have some deep lovely conversations, not just about the book about ourselves, our beliefs, thoughts and our journeys. Never would I have thought that doing an audio book would allow me to meet two people that will impact my life so dramatically and allow me to build friendships with them so deep and so quick. I am so completely blessed.
I have always said make and plan and the universe will let you know what the real plan is. This is a divine plan, this is bigger than me, I know that sounds strange, however these two have brought so much change and knowledge into my world in a blink of an eye. It is one of the first times in my life where I haven’t had to explain myself, explain my emotions or how I am or what I think. These two speak my language and have instantaneously connected to my heart. I really hope that you all can feel the great energy and connection we have while recording this book. It has been such a great experience.
